The Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X are officially here
Triumph is synonymous with premium motorcycles, a reputation well-established through its iconic models such as the Bonneville, Thruxton, and Scrambler, as well as the dynamic Speed and Street Triple, and the commanding Rocket 3. These bikes have always been associated with the more affluent motorcycle enthusiast. However, a noteworthy trend is emerging as premium brands venture into the realm of affordability with fresh offerings.
Take Harley-Davidson, for instance, making waves by partnering with Hero MotoCorp in India to introduce the X440. Similarly, BMW’s collaboration with TVS for the G 310 series has been a remarkable success story. Likewise, KTM and Husqvarna have teamed up with Bajaj to create the 390 and 401 models. Triumph, not wanting to be left behind, also joined forces with Bajaj, giving birth to the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. These two motorcycles caused quite a stir when they were unveiled in June 2023. Before their arrival, Triumph’s most accessible offering was the Trident 660.
Shortly after their global debut, the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X swiftly expanded their presence into other markets. India, being one of the first in Asia to receive these bikes, wasn’t a surprise, considering they are assembled there. Now, these motorcycles have made their debut in the Philippines, boasting competitive price tags that undercut the competition. Indeed, Triumph’s latest offerings are just the right size to tackle both expressways and city commutes with ease.
In terms of performance, both the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X share a common heart: a 398cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine. This engine configuration delivers a commendable 39 horsepower and 40 Nm of torque. It strikes a harmonious balance, offering accessible power for beginners while still delivering an exhilarating experience for intermediate and seasoned riders.
When it comes to pricing and availability, the Triumph Speed 400 carries a price tag of P299,000, while the Scrambler 400X is slightly higher at P339,000.
