Today, KTM Philippines held a press conference prior to allowing members of the media to ask what questions they may have about Rimba Raid 2023. The recently-concluded qualifying event would see some of the best riders saddle up on big adventure bikes to post the best time in a grueling off-road race. KTM Philippines’ representative, Christian “Ian” Ordonez was recognized for his accomplishments in the Rimba Raid Qualifiers this year and he will be representing the country in Malaysia this year.
In addition, KTM Philippines thanked FJ MOTO ENDURO for playing a pivotal role in holding the event this year. The KTM Road to Rimba Asia Qualifiers saw a ton of Philippine talent go head to head to find the best-of-the-best in the country on the back of big-capacity off-road-capable machines.
Rimba Raid will be held in Malaysia, from August 31 to September 3, 2023. The event started back in 2015 and has gone on to be one of the most highly-participated motorcycle rally events in Southeast Asia. The competition gathers more than 250 competitors across 25 different countries to go off-road, and race on some of the biggest and most capable adventure bikes in the world. The event is currently the largest big-displacement adventure motorcycle off-road race in the world, and one of the other prominent races held in Malaysia, aside from MotoGP.
As such, KTM Philippines is happy to be a part of the qualified brands with a representative. Other brands who were able to participate in the qualifiers will be sending their own talents, but the rider representing team orange in the Philippines is none other than Christian Ordonez.
Ordonez is one of the select few who will represent KTM at the 2023 Rimba Raid event in Malaysia. Team orange will be giving a full sponsorship package which consists of race fees, accommodations, race support, and the use of a brand-new KTM 790 Adventure R in the competition. It’s also another feat that the KTM motorcycles in the Class B Category (Ordonez’s class) and below, will be on Philippine-made models.
While in Malaysia, Ordonez will be competing against 64 other riders in the Class B Category which includes a full field of 250cc to 999cc displacement multi-cylinder motorcycles. The participants will be tracking a total of 220 kilometers for the race across the Taman Negara National Park.
KTM Philippines would like to thank its organizing partner, FJ MOTO ENDURO for helping organize the KTM Rimba Raid Philippine Qualifiers, and would like to wish Ordonez luck and provide full support in Malaysia.
