The Triumph Daytona 675 stands as an emblematic middleweight sportbike in the contemporary motorcycling landscape. Regrettably, the Philippines never witnessed the presence of this remarkable machine on its roads. Triumph eventually halted the production of the Daytona 675, a decision coinciding with their strategic move to have the Street Triple 765 assume the roles of both a stripped-down streetfighter and a sportbike in their lineup.
Having said all that, things might change soon. There’s talk about a new Triumph Daytona coming out, and the industry has been abuzz for a while now. It seems like there’s a new version of the Daytona being tested, and it’s going to be based on Triumph’s successful 660 platform. This new Daytona will use a 660cc triple engine, which is the same one used in the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660 bikes.
The approachable three-cylinder engine makes 81 horsepower at 10,250 rpm, and it has 67 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. Some other parts are the same too, like the exhaust, the 17-inch alloy wheels, the inverted front fork from Showa, and the rear shock also from Showa. The brakes are also reportedly the same Nissin units, and the bike is sporting a digital display just like its siblings.
The design of the bodywork appears to naturally progress from the last iteration of the Daytona’s headlight and cowl structure in 2019. Undoubtedly, introducing a new sportbike with a full fairing will address a significant gap in Triumph’s current range of motorcycles. Almost all other European motorcycle makers have introduced their own versions of a mid-sized sportbike, and models like the Aprilia RS 660 have achieved considerable popularity globally.
Triumph has not released any official information regarding the upcoming Daytona 660, but it’s highly likely that if and when this motorcycle is introduced, it will generate significant excitement. Currently, the Triumph Trident 660 remains the most easily attainable option within the British brand’s lineup. In the domestic market, its price begins at P516,000.
