KTM has just pulled the covers off the all-new 390 Duke in the global market. For years now, the so-called Corner Rocket has been a favorite among both enthusiasts and commuters alike. Its lightweight chassis inspired confidence in riders of all backgrounds, while its peppy performance provided exhilaration with every twist of the wrist. Now, for the 2024 model-year, KTM has refreshed the 390 Duke from the ground up. Let’s take a closer look.
Style-wise, the new 390 Duke showcases a completely fresh appearance from front to back. While certain resemblances to its previous look remain, it’s evident that KTM has reimagined the bike’s sharp aesthetic. At the front, there’s a split LED headlamp featuring an angular enclosure, accompanied by distinctive DRLs that contribute to a fiercer style. Additionally, the tank covers have been augmented, stretching forward from the fuel tank and partially covering the front forks.
Transitioning to the bike’s central section, noteworthy changes have been introduced to the trellis frame, including the relocation of the rear shock to the bike’s right side. The swingarm has undergone a redesign too, contributing to a more condensed visual profile for the bike. Notably, the 2024 edition of the KTM 390 Duke is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels similar to those of the new RC 390. All in all, the updated Duke maintains a distinct supermoto influence, distinctly bearing the unmistakable KTM aesthetic.
In the 2024 iteration, the KTM 390 Duke continues to utilize a single-cylinder engine, although it has undergone a redesign and modernization to enhance its performance. To begin with, the engine displacement has been increased to 399cc from 373cc in the old model, resulting in a power boost to 44 hp and 39 Nm of torque. The bike features a throttle-by-wire system that provides three distinct ride modes: Rain, Street, and Track. Advanced electronic features typically found in racing, including cornering ABS and traction control, are available. Additionally, the bike offers features like launch control for improved acceleration. As an optional add-on, riders can also opt for an up and down quickshifter for seamless gear changes.
Regarding suspension, the new 390 Duke comes equipped with 43-millimeter inverted front forks sourced from WP. This high-quality arrangement includes standard features like adjustable compression and rebound damping. Meanwhile, the rear shock has been strategically relocated to the side to accommodate a larger airbox, enhancing the bike’s overall performance.
