Kawasaki unveils the 2024 KLX300 and KLX300SM in the global market

Kawasaki‘s street motorcycles are undeniably remarkable in terms of performance and value, but when it comes to off-road bikes, Team Green boasts an impressive collection with the KLX series. In the 2024 model-year, the brand has made updates to its 300cc models to cater to the global market.

To enhance both its on-road and off-road capabilities, the KLX300 dual-sport has undergone refinements. With a 292cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine, the KLX300 provides a well-balanced distribution of power across all rev ranges. The engine’s performance is further enhanced by optimized ignition timing and a gear-driven engine balancer, resulting in a seamless power delivery and user-friendly experience. Efficient cooling is ensured through the incorporation of dual radiators and a slim radiator size, allowing the KLX300 to maintain optimal operating temperatures.

Both the KLX300 and KLX300SM models feature a high-tensile steel perimeter frame with a box-and-tubular-section design, offering a slim and lightweight structure. The front suspension is equipped with a 43mm inverted cartridge-style fork that provides support and can be adjusted for compression damping. The rear of the bikes features a Uni-Trak® suspension system, which enhances road holding capability and effectively absorbs shocks and uneven terrain. With a total wheel travel of 10 inches in the front and 9.1 inches in the rear, the KLX300 models deliver a smooth and controlled riding experience.

The main difference between the KLX300 and KLX300SM models lies in their wheel configurations, which define their intended purpose. The KLX300 adheres to the conventional dual-sport setup, sporting a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel. This configuration is well-suited for versatile riding across different terrains. In contrast, the KLX300SM is designed as a supermoto package, featuring 17-inch wheels both in the front and rear, which are ideal for street-focused riding.

At present, Kawasaki doesn’t offer its KLX300 and KLX300SM models in the local market. Folks looking for a capable dual-sport machine of similar capacity will have to turn their attention to Honda, and the CRF300L. There currently aren’t any supermoto offerings of this displacement in the local market either. That being said, should Kawasaki Philippines choose to launch the KLX300 and KLX300SM in the local market, chances are they’ll be met with quite a demand from off-road enthusiasts.
